The gearbox is a mechanical device that is similar to the derailleur of a bike and that transmits the power of the engine to the wheels. Thanks to the gearbox, your vehicle can therefore move forward at different speeds or reverse. The power, which increases or decreases according to the speed, must always be adapted to the driving conditions (highway, mountain, heavy loads on board …). The gearbox can be in a vertical or horizontal position and can also be manual or automatic. The automatic gearbox allows an easier driving mode (no clutch pedal) but is more expensive and energy-consuming while the manual gearbox, the most common, gives greater freedom of driving by adapting to the situation (smooth or sportier driving) and is less energy-consuming but the clutch is more stressed and driving in the city is less easy (stops and frequent starts).
